The project

We were commissioned to refurbish an existing beauty salon within a tight budget. To achieve this, we advised looking to update some existing elements of the area. The main areas of concern were the poor lighting and the individual workstations.

The works

The works began with a strip-out of the ceiling and lighting. The existing sink pods were disconnected and removed. We then re-boarded the ceiling and applied a skimmed finish. Access panels and holes were cut ready for the new lighting.

To maximise lighting, high frequency lights were installed with emergency unit and tiltable spotlights over the reception area. These were wired to a new multi-gang switch.

A bespoke washbasin unit was manufactured to meet the client's needs. This included removable sections to locate plumbing. The unit was finished in a sprayed white gloss and housed a toughened glass top and splashback. New designer washbasins were then installed. The existing reception desk was fitted with a bespoke overhang top, finished in white laminate.

To update the individual workstations, taking into account the budget, we fixed new full height mirrors to the existing unit with decorative lipping. Toughened glass shelves, machined to house a hairdryer, were also fitted. In addition, we polished the existing tiled floor, serviced the air-conditioning and fitted new wall shelving units.

The project was completed within the 2-week schedule and on budget.
