The project

Before we could start the re-fit, we were commissioned to strip out both floors and dispose of approximately 60 workstations, 65 chairs, several meeting tables and various storage units, after which we were to build new partitioning to match agreed plans, retile the ceiling, lay new flooring, decorate and install new furniture. The client was expecting such works to take several weekends, but to help with minimum disturbance to their business, we project-managed the schedule so as to complete after just 2 weekends.

The work

On the first weekend we stripped out all the existing partitioning, ceiling tiles and flooring, and disposed of all the unwanted furniture. We then installed a 2" lightweight demountable partition system made up of aluminium head tracks and upright posts with 48mm plasterboard-faced honeycomb panels. Each board was then decorated with a paper-backed vinyl. This system provides a 30 dbRw sound reduction. As a feature we built the frame for a fully double-glazed partition wall made up of several sections. New 600x600mm ceiling tiles were fitted within the existing suspended grid. Light switches and air-conditioning controls were re-sited within the new partitioning and additional power and data requirements installed as required ready for use the next working day.

On the second weekend, we installed the glazed panels to the curved section and fitted the integral blinds. Decoration work was completed, the new flooring was installed throughout and the furniture was built on site and installed.

Additional works included replacement of door closers and the re-calibration of the air-conditioning. We also provided and managed personal and IT crates for the project.

The full project was completed within schedule and on budget.
